Our team will be competing against fellow industry professionals this June, as the we prepare to take on Habitat for Humanity’s Hope Challenge in Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park.
An annual event running from 28th – 30th June, Hope Challenge brings together teams from across the housebuilding, construction and property sectors to compete against each other in a series of challenges.
Each team must design and build their own innovative shelter where they live for two nights in the Peak District’s Hope Valley, before going head-to-head in a series of mental and physical challenges. Shelters are judged by Habitat for Humanity staff, trustees and volunteers – who also coach each team throughout their three-day challenge.
All funds raised from Hope Challenge support Habitat for Humanity’s work worldwide which is focused on a long-term vision of eliminating housing poverty and homelessness by building safe environments where families and communities can thrive. Its operation continues to change lives and tackles other issues such as slum rehabilitation, energy efficiency, disaster response and water sanitisation and hygiene.
We have entered a team to compete in the 2019 Hope Challenge, with a fundraising target of £3,000. Our Land Director, Simon Midgley, applauds the work of Habitat for Humanity and sees initiatives such as Hope Challenge as vital in tackling significant worldwide humanitarian issues.
“It’s still hard to believe that homelessness and housing poverty exist in today’s world,” said Simon.
“Everyone should be able to live in a safe, secure environment with access to clean water whilst being safe in the knowledge that they have a roof over their heads. Habitat for Humanity is making great strides in tackling these issues and we are proud to be supporting their efforts by competing in this year’s Hope Challenge – as the industry comes together to raise vital funds to change lives across the UK and abroad.”
He continues, “All donations in support of our team’s efforts are very much appreciated and can be made via our Just Giving page at https://giving.habitatforhumanity.org.uk/pf/fairgrovehomes,”
